FUNDING - Q&A

Can I enroll into more than one program? WIA students may enroll in only one program. This regulation does not apply to private-pay students.

What should I take to the one-stop center to assist in determining my WIA eligibility? Photo ID or birth certificate, Social Security card, proof of income, verification of last day of work, and layoff notice.

What are the benefits of the WIA?* WIA may pay for necessary training materials, travel, meal allowance, child care allowance, and job placement assistance (per county basis). WIA may have auxilary aids and services available upon request to individuals with disabilities. WIA is an equal opportunity program.

Will I lose my Unemployment Insurance Benefits? You may be allowed to continue those benefits for which you are eligible throughout your training. While in training you may be exempt from looking for work, but you will need to be approved for claimant trainee status thru the Department of Labor. You will be required to resume your job search as the ending of training approaches.

Which counties are funded for training through WIA? Cherokee, City of Atlanta, Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb, Douglas, Fayette, Fulton, Gwinnett, Henry, and Rockdale. If you reside in other counties and have been laid off or are long-term unemployed, CIT may be able to serve you.

Can I select any of the programs listed on this brochure? Some programs do have restrictions based on the individual's county of residence. Please inquire with school staff for more information.
