Certification Opportunities - MAINTENANCE

• Certification Maintenance

Students who successfully complete program requirements will receive a certificate of completion from The Center of Industry & Technology (CIT) which reads “Industrial Maintenance”. CIT meets the requirements of the Nonpublic Postsecondary Education Commission. There are requirements for curriculum hours, written exams, and hands-on training.

 

• Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certification

At the end of the HVACR* course, students take the EPA**- Section 608 Certification Exam. In order to be certified, the student must pass the core exam, along with a passing score in each attempted certification level exam. The EPA test includes: ozone depletion, EPA regulations, recovering, recycling and reclaiming refrigerants, safe handling and transportation of refrigerants. Certification levels are: Core, I, II, III (Universal).

*HVACR – Heating, Ventilating, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration
**EPA – Environmental Protection Agency

• Copper Brazing Certification

Test brazes are prepared during the plumbing section of Maintenance. Certificate is issued if test brazes meet the requirements in accordance with Section IX of the ASME* Code.

*ASME – American Society of Mechanical Engineers

• OSHA* Fall Protection Standard Certificate of Achievement

Issued upon completion and comprehension of material presented on the OSHA Fall Protection Standard. The material covered includes: fall protection systems, selecting proper fall protection systems, what happens if you fall, limiting falls, rescue plans, and equipment.
